This project was focused around a social issue and the goal was to create a resource for people facing that issue to use. While this topic could have gone a variety of ways I chose to focus on the issue of color blindness and how that impacts the everyday task of selecting outfits to wear.
What became of this topic was a website catered towards those with colorblindness, not as a special colorblind site, but as a normal site with elements catering towards those who may need help picking out or matching clothes. I named it DECODE ATTIRE, and due to the higher percentage of men affected with colorblindness and need for this resource overall, men are the demographic that this site was catered towards.
DECODE ATTIRE works to help men find basic everyday clothing items that match and fit their style. This is done with a simple coding system that lets users know which clothes match based on the code they are assigned.
The site is set up like a normal clothing site in order for the users to not feel different from ordinary people. In fact the site is useable by anyone. The only difference is that each item is labeled with a coding number. The site is also simplified and basic to match the types of items that are sold.
The site will also recommend other items that go well with items already in your cart. If the user signs up for a free account the site will also recommend matching items based on purchases already made.
Overall this website works to aid those with colorblindness while choosing clothes to wear as an everyday occurrence. It does this while not singling the group out and by helping them feel like they fit in.
