This project was a way to showcase different cities in Minnesota, mostly on the north shore. The style of the badges are meant to showcase the differences while having unity between them.
process
I wanted to maintain the feeling of the lake superior coast that most of these places have in common. I also wanted to showcase a significant aspect about that city in the badge design. I also wanted the badges to have some sort of framing around them in order to give the enclosed feeling, and defining a definite edge of where the active space ends.
result
The final project ended up being designed with outlines as a way to create all of the badges in a uniform way. The name of the city is in a banner that goes across the badge just below center to create more room for the design work showcasing the significant aspects of it. The image on the top half also continues down behind the banner into the bottom section as well in order to activate the space.
